The Truth About Toilet Paper By Suzanna Wright Have you noticed the trend in toilet paper? Double rolls, triple rolls, 4 roll, 6 roll, 12 roll.... It seems to me that purchasing TP used to be a fairly straight forward thing to do. You went to the store and chose between one ply and 2 ply tissue. Other than that there wasn't much to think about other than brand and price. Now there is a whole new breed of tissue to consider and you must be cautious because the information on the packaging is somewhat misleading. While studying the package content I noticed that a single standard roll consist of 176 sheets of 4x4 tissue. This means that a double roll should consist of 352 sheets. This is not always the case. One major brand has several styles to choose from and a double roll varied from 208 sheets per roll to 302 sheets per roll. In my book that does not add up. Another major brand sold a roll with 288 sheets as a double while selling a triple roll with only 345 sheets. None of the major brands sold a triple roll tissue that actually contains 528 sheets. In fact the largest triple roll I found contained only 402 sheets. The only brand that sold a double roll with a full 352 sheets is Angel Soft. Whether one or two ply the roll was still 352 sheets. So beware when purchasing TP. Make sure you are getting your full moneys worth.
